Founder, Brandy MacDonald, opened Circle Midwifery with the goal of empowering women families and local communities by offering support during the child-bearing years.

Brandy, who is the eldest daughter of six, raised in the snowy suburbs of Minneapolis, MN, has a lifetime interest in caring for women, babies, and families. During her teenage years Brandy could easily be found either babysitting, or volunteering in the labor and delivery, or pediatric units at the local hospital.

As Brandy began to create her own path in life, she felt a continued urgency to make a positive change in the world. By the age of 18, she was sure that her life would include working with women, families and children. At 18, Brandy first heard the word ‘midwife’, and her life path was clear.

Through many years and passages Brandy finds herself blessed to be doing the work of midwifery in the beautiful land of Southern Oregon. She feels called to this work of empowering women and families in the birthing process. Quite simply, the work of midwifery makes Brandy happy.

Brandy believes that a sustainable and happy future for our children is rooted in our own ability to connect with our local communities and support-structures. Her midwifery practice, and her life, are based on this belief.

Brandy has studied midwifery through both the apprentice model and through traditional education at the Seattle Midwifery School. Brandy is a graduate of the Seattle Midwifery School’s 3-year midwifery program. Brandy is a Certified Professional Midwife and is licensed in Oregon. Brandy has extensive education in breastfeeding support and natural fertility enhancement.
